»Zgodovinarji se pogosto soočamo z dvema težavama; ali gradiva o raziskovalni temi sploh ni ali pa ga je tako veliko, da se je težko odločiti, kaj izbrati,« je dejal Kristjan Knez, predsednik Društva za zgodovinske in geografske študije Piran, pred enim od panojev dokumentarne razstave z naslovom Sledi beneške dediščine v piranskem mestnem arhivu in lik njegovega skrbnika, grofa Stefana Rote, ki je 14. novembra 2023 v razstavno dvorano Tartinijeve hiše privabila pisano množico ljudi. S prostorsko stisko se je že pred tem spopadla dvorana vedut dve nadstropji niže, kjer so obiskovalci najprej prisluhnili Mešanemu pevskemu zboru Giuseppe Tartini pod vodstvom Barbare Barač in ob klavirski spremljavi Saša Fajona, nato pa prisluhnili predstavitvi razstave. Njena avtorja – že omenjeni Knez in Marina Paoletič – sta med drugim izpostavila prav prostranost gradiva, skozi katerega sta se vztrajno podajala, vsakič pripravljena na nova spoznanja in hvaležna vsem, ki so za svoje poslanstvo izbrali skrb za ohranjanje vezi s preteklostjo. Grof Stefano Rota zagotovo sodi med tiste najzaslužnejše za to, da lahko spoznanja o zgodovini Pirana nadgrajujemo vedno znova in znova, saj je urejanju in skrbi za piranski arhiv in knjižnico posvetil štiri desetletja svojega življenja. In to prostovoljno. V dobro svojega mesta in njenih meščanov.
Grof Rota je sicer že nekaj časa predmet znanstvenega raziskovanja, ki poteka vzporedno v Momjanu in Piranu. V prvem je Knez že na mednarodni konferenci leta 2013 predstavil znanstveno študijo o piranskem knjižničarju in arhivarju, v kateri je poudaril njegovo vlogo pri ohranjanju srednjeveške dokumentacije in zbiranju pomembnega gradiva, med katerega sodijo tudi dragoceni Tartinijevi rokopisi, od leta 2014 do nekaj let nazaj pa so tam redno potekali znanstveni simpoziji, na katerih so obravnavali različne teme, povezane s tamkajšnjim gradom Rota in Momjanom. Soavtorica razstave Marina Paoletič se je z rodbino Rota zbliževala v letih 2014 in 2015, ko se je posvečala bogati zbirki gradiva v zasebnem arhivu Rota – Benedetti, za katerega z veliko strastjo skrbi potomka piranskega grofa, Anna Benedetti.
Na dokumentarni razstavi skozi izčrpne zapise na preglednih panojih spremljamo zgodbo o 25. decembra 1924 v Piranu rojenem Stefanu Roti, ki je pripadal plemiški družini s koreninami v Bergamu, ki je svoje ime povezala z gradom v Momjanu. 25. januarja 1548 ga je namreč za 5.555 zlatnikov kupil Simone Rota in tako pridobil naziv Simone I., grof Rota iz Momjana. Njegov potomec Simone II. je ob smrti zapustil tri sinove, izmed katerih je Orazio III. nadaljeval momjansko družinsko vejo, Giovanni Paolo pa je z zakonom s Francesco Furegoni dal življenje piranski veji družine.
Kot je dejala Marina Paoletič, je razstava razdeljena na tri tematske sklope. Prvi del je posvečen osebnosti Stefana Rote, njegovim interesom, stikom in njegovi vlogi knjižničarja in arhivarja. V drugem delu je obširneje predstavljena rodbina Rota, njihov prihod v Istro, lastništva, ki se raztezajo po celotnem polotoku, in njihove vezi z Benetkami. Zadnji, zelo zajeten del pa je posvečen knjižnici in arhivu.
Slednji ustanovi imata v tokratnem projektu odločilno vlogo, saj kot je dejal Kristjan Knez, ne govorimo le o njuni ureditvi, ampak postavitvi modela, ki so mu sledila vsa druga mesta v Istri.
Po njegovih besedah so v času Beneške republike tudi izven lagune skrbno hranili arhivsko dokumentacijo, a ob njenem zatonu je ta v mnogih istrskih krajih preprosto izginila. Mnogi mestni arhivi so bili uničeni, dokumentacija pa razpršena po različnih ustanovah. In to ni veljalo samo za manjše kraje. Tudi Koper dolgo ni imel urejenega arhiva, dokumentacija je bila spravljena v večinoma neprimernih prostorih in večkrat prestavljena.
Mestna knjižnica v Piranu je zaživela novo življenje po zaslugi podestata Pierfeliceja Gabriellija, ki je leta 1855 nalogo preureditve tako nje kot pridruženega arhiva zaupal prav Roti. Njegovi predanost in vnema sta zaslužni za ohranitev dragocenih listin iz srednjega veka in kasnejših stoletij, pridobitev druge avtohtone kulturne dediščine, kot so Tartinijevi rokopisi, ki sta jih arhivu podarila brata Pietro in Domenico Vatta, nekaj spominskih predmetov slavnega violinista in starodavne notarske listine, med katerimi je izjemno veliko oporok.
Razstava, s katero po besedah Kristjana Kneza želijo poudariti pomen ohranjanja pričevanj o preteklosti in pomembno vlogo arhivov kot varuhov spomina nekega kraja, širšega ozemlja in vseh, ki tam živijo, bo v Tartinijevi hiši gostovala do 1. decembra. Že pet dni kasneje si jo bodo lahko ogledali v Padovi, kjer bo gostovala do 2. januarja 2024, od 16. do 25. februarja 2024 pa bo svojo pot zaključila v Momjanu.

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:
Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.
These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
